The US House of Representatives that is about to start with the imminent Republican majority has its first scandal: The George Santos case. 3 New York. It's becoming increasingly clear that the district's new elect not only "tuned" his biography, but invented it from the top down, something he has acknowledged.
In "normal", as democratic rivals say, it seems that Santos should not come to his seat or resign quickly. Because, although Santos has not delinquent, voter fraud is too evident. But American politics came out of normal long ago. And the small Republican majority in the House of Representatives does not make it easier to choose extraordinary elections that could change the color of a seat. Santos, for his part, has so far shown the skin to withstand the rejection chubasco.
The main peculiarity of the case would be that, apparently, Santos has invented almost a complete biography, not a few frictions. Political ambition is also a lack of scruples and a certain mythomania. But in a country where someone like Donald Trump comes to the White House and after four years there, not only is he willing to come back, but he sees him with opportunities, the Santos case is a very secondary one.
This brings us to the category of everyday life that has lied in the politics of the world’s top power, for not entering other areas of society. After the catharsis attracted by the Watergate case and the resignation of Nixon, a reflection that found good selling among us was extended: "The United States will be whatever you want, but if you get liars there, they'll end."
It took us a couple of decades to see that that ideological product -- it was a lie. Colin Powell demonstrated this in the United Nations Security Council until we assumed, and we believed, that the packaging contained detergent, not anthrax. The knowledge of Roger Stone's ongoing "dark works," which has bridged Nixon and Trump, should prevent us from having the last dreams. From there, there is nothing more to do with what "facts" feeds the "media orchestra" managed by the Secretary of State in the face of every geopolitical conflict in the United States.
But lying is a social poison that works like any drug, sinning from a punctual problem, and deeply alters information management. And in the information society, its impact is inevitable.
Is it so hard to understand?
Tennessee (United States), 1820. The slave Nathan Green is born, known as Nearest Uncle or Nearest Uncle. We do not know exactly when he was born and, in general, we have very little data about him until 1863, when he achieved emancipation. We know that in the late 1850s Dan... [+]
It is not an easy task to define what the new US mandate will bring in the economic sphere. The axis of the new economic strategy will be the peculiar union between liberalism and protectionism for the external sector. Despite what has happened in the United States on a regular... [+]
Everyone is accounting for what can happen in Trump 2.0 and what can happen in the world. One of the few forecasts that can be given as a little from the knowledge of the subject's frivolity is that relations with China in the United States, at least economic, will deteriorate... [+]
