The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia grants the Generalitat a maximum of fifteen days for 25% of the hours to be established in Spanish in schools, “effectively and immediately”. In this way, they would avoid the model of immersion in Catalonia.
The Generalitat has denounced from the outset that “it is contrary to pedagogical criteria” to set a percentage to languages, and they have rejected it. Instead, the Government of Catalonia and the majority of the Catalan Parliament have presented judges with a proposal that, without percentages, would comply with the law: Amend the Language Policy Act, prepare a linguistic decree and conduct a survey on the socio-linguistic situation. But the Court of Justice has not accepted the proposal.
