The Basque Gazte includes members of various groups related to Euskera, such as Basque groups from the towns and neighborhoods, Euskera groups from the universities, youth movements and private individuals. Some of these young people are the ones who organized Gaztealdia on the eve of Euskaraldia, at the end of 2020.
The movement considers that it is in the hands of the Basque people and the Basque people to strengthen the struggle for the Basque people. They have stressed that it is time to overcome the turning point of Euskalgintza and that it is time to act: “We have to reactivate and articulate the Basque movement that will mark the new direction and rise up in the face of aggression.” They have stated that it is up to them to rebuild the popular movement for the Basque Country and for the Basque culture. On the other hand, they have stressed the importance of building free spaces for the Basques: “We appeal to multiply the social, political and cultural spaces that are lived and organized in Euskera, to empower and empower us from there, and above all, that we influence.”
They have been concerned about the situation of the Basque people and have explained how nowadays more people know or understand the Basque country and how the use of the Basque country is being withdrawn.
They have also focused on language policies. They have denounced the neglect of the main institutions and public entities of the Basque Country: “Long-designed policies have hit the roof and lead us to touch the ground.”
Gazte Euskaltzaleak has announced that it will continue to create spaces in schools, universities and gaztetxes, among others. Spaces for collaboration, reflection and political action.
