In the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca, on Wednesday, a rally was held to report the case of a young man beaten in Vitoria by two agents. The family and friends of Aimar make the call. They demand justice for the young and call for "ending impunity" of the agents.
In his reading, Aimar's father explains that the juvenile prosecutor's office has attributed his son three serious crimes: one for "disobedience to authority" and two for "reckless driving". For their part, local police officers have been charged only with a minor offence. "We expected something like this, but not to act with so little shame." He explains that the case is in the hands of the family attorney. The mother has also spoken and said that although the struggle will be "long and hard", they will take it "until the last mutation". If necessary, they are prepared to take it to Europe.
Justice is what you want. "We don't think all agents act the same, but these men don't deserve to work." The authorities call for these facts to be taken into account so that they do not happen again. They call for two policemen to be placed in an order to take away their child.
Position of the City Council
Last week, PSE-EE Security Councilor Marian Gutierrez from the City Hall of Vitoria-Gasteiz said they had ordered the City Guard to call the parents, but they indicated that they had not received that call. The parents left the room denouncing the council's mentality. On the other hand, Gutiérrez sought the presumption of innocence for the two policemen charged until the case was resolved. The mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Gorka Uraran, stated that the city council acted "objectively" in the case.
Aimar's father denounces the councillor's attitude in reading: "In the commission he said a witness spoke of "struggle," but two other witnesses said Aimar was asking for help and the police beat her. Why didn't you mention the latter?"
