The Department of Security of the City of Vitoria-Gasteiz will allocate almost EUR 40 million from the 2024 budget to the staff costs of the Municipal Guard, the Fire Prevention and Extinguishing Service (Speis) and the Traffic Service. Security Councilor Iñaki Gurtubai has presented municipal groups with his main projects for the year 2024 and has stressed that “the greatest economic commitment will be the increase and strengthening of the person”.
Gurtubai has announced an increase in Municipal Police staff through a “Joint Public Job Offer to Fill Vacancies” and the offer of “twenty new Mobility Agents at Basic Level”. He says that Speis’s Public Employment Offer will also be convened to “strengthen staff”. In addition, the City Council will allocate 372,500 euros for the renovation of the computer and telecommunications systems of the Local Police.
Gurtubai has also announced the installation of intelligence cameras with an investment of €310,000: “Video surveillance cameras, traffic control cameras for road safety and exclusive reading of license plates for the implementation of the Low Emissions Zone”. In general, further investments in the digitisation of services will be made, with the support of European funds.
