In the face of the Socialist Movement’s veto denunciation, the Commission of Txosnas de Vitoria (GTB) has published a note defending its position. "Participation in GTB is not in any case a right in itself, but the result of a process of rapprochement that generates trust based on mutual respect". They denounce that so far there has not been such a process and that the Socialist Movement does not have such a strategy. From October onwards, they express their readiness to work towards resolving the conflict. "Let's see if MS does the same," they say.
After asking publicly last week for the participation of the Socialist Movement in the Comparsas de Bilbao and the Junta de Txosnas de Vitoria by 150 cultural agents from Euskal Herria, GTB has defended its decision by means of a note. In essence, as a popular movement, it has defended the legitimacy to make its decisions. "The decision not to include two more groups in the Socialist Movement is not a political veto, it is the result of an absolutely legitimate process."
They say that they have not "banned political choices", which proves this is the diversity of projects, political and cultural orientations that make up the committee. They recall that the Socialist Movement has "representation" in the Txosnas of Vitoria-Gasteiz, through Ikasle Abertzaleak.
They point out that the agents that make up the committee with 43 years of experience have taken the decision collectively from the reflection they made in the course of 2020-2021. It collected, as it has been made public: "The objectives in the context of coexistence between GTB groups are: To promote an activity consistent with the political bases of Txosnas of Vitoria-Gasteiz, from respect and collaboration, enhancing a space of trust and security". They recall that each group of the Txosnas Commission has to commit to respect for the other groups and their political actions, and that this is not the position of MS.
In the horizontal political processes of popular movements, they have defended the strategy of reaching compromises and seeking consensus. "Those who are not able to respect the rest of the participants put themselves out of these processes."
GTB says it has proposed working to "solve the conflict" from October onwards and asks MS to do the same.
"These 43 years have not been banal. We have been working for years and fighting for this space that we all feed together. Within the framework of the festivities of Vitoria-Gasteiz, we work legitimately to carry out the alternative, self-managed, feminist and Euskaldunes demanded by the society of the city, and in that we will continue working with everyone who wants to believe and feed on the project", they said.
