“A private laboratory in the center of Vitoria-Gasteiz performs the coronavirus PCR test to private individuals, companies, sports clubs and even patients whom Osakidetza wants to reject a second confirmatory test and discharge,” said Iker Rioja. The only condition for the test is the signing of a collegiate professional and the results are given in 24 or 40 hours.
On Saturday, at a telematics hearing, the Health Advisor asked Murga about the existence of private laboratories where the tests are carried out in this way: "I don't have any news of that kind of practice," he said. It is public that at the beginning of the health crisis the sports companies Alavés and Baskonia contracted private tests for their players and workers.
Private health available to the public?
When the state of alarm was declared on 14 March, the Spanish Government assumed the power to make private health facilities available to the public. On Friday, Murga signed an order requiring private centers to make their resources known and to follow the criteria of Osakidetza and the Ministry of Health. The order allows the Administration to set the test prices and provides for the possibility of fines.
