The debt of EUR 112,817 charged to the Gasteiz Theatre closed for lack of activity will be paid by the Lazarraga Cultural Association within five years, approximately EUR 2,000 per month. In addition, the Convention will make a number of adaptations to “adapt the operational plan to the annual activity”.
What is agreed with the City Hall is unanimously approved by the Lazarraga partners in the General Assembly and the agreement will be signed in the coming days. Partners consider this to be the “best possible deal”.
Programme, gradually
In this way, the Teatro Vitoria will be launched and the programme will be gradually completed, at the beginning, and more complete as of September. The competition of the hospitality service will also be presented, the website will be activated, the calls for creativity will be launched… The president of the cultural association Lukas Etxeberria Lazarraga has been excited. The mayor of the City of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Maider Etxeberria, also learned: “In Vitoria-Gasteiz we will give a great boost to the development of culture in Euskera.”
Abrupt road
We count in ARGIA, the Teatro Vitoria: the respiratory zone in report, the theater has had a hard, bittersweet and agitated path. Politicians promised the Lazarraga partnership that it would open its doors in 2022. Then the road is filled with administrative obstacles. They delegated the responsibilities to the “technicians”, where tenders, licenses, regulations of all kinds appeared… They began to extend the deadlines, and could not be opened in October 2022, at Christmas, in the spring of 2023, or in September of 2023… And suddenly, the Lazarraga association received a municipal letter before the Holy Week of 2024: “You owe EUR 113,000.”
Despite the obstacles, it seems that the project will end up seeing the light. “Vitoria-Gasteiz and Álava have changed a lot, despite the fact that some external analysts have realized now, and to adapt to this new Gasteiz the Gasteiz Theatre is essential, not only to be a respiratory center for the Basques, but also to attract the non-Basques,” explains Aiala Zaldibar, of the Platform for the Theatre of Vitoria, in the aforementioned report.
On Sunday of September it is customary to climb to Ernio, dance in Zelatun and eat brown chorizo, or something. The worst time you don't need people. This year, when my friends were leaving earlier and I was delaying, I would go up alone, finding the crews coming down. Most young... [+]

Edurne Azkarate said from the micro stage that the Basque film has little Basque in the celebration of the San Sebastian Film Festival. The phrase echoes for its truthfulness. In the architecture scene you can repeat the same motto and I am sure that in so many other cultural... [+]
