Create a platform to support the Gasteiz Theatre
- The Gasteiz Theatre Platform has asked the City Hall to launch "as soon as possible" the Vitoria Theatre and has called for "respect" for both the Lazarraga association and Basque cultural activity.
Dozens of citizens today presented the platform for the Gasteiz Theatre in the atrium of the Ruiz de Bergara Palace. To this end, the Euskaltzales have recovered the platform created more than ten years ago for the project.
Similarly, the treatment given by the City Hall to the Lazarraga association has been regarded as ‘unacceptable’, denouncing the ‘diligence and unwillingness’ of the City Hall of Vitoria-Gasteiz in relation to the matter. They claim that “the responsibility for the unfulfilled commitments” by the City Council and its economic consequences is not fair to “want to leave behind the association”.
They add that the situation is ‘Kafkiana’. ‘Infrastructure already in place. All municipal groups agree. The need is there. However, the situation remains: closing the building and integrating into the drawer of lost dreams that existed to be realized in Basque».
They therefore declare that they are prepared to ‘carry out all the necessary actions and mobilisations’. At the moment, they anticipate that they will join talks with all the political groups, that they will present a motion in the municipal plenary and that they will reactivate the collection of signatures from the network.
