According to ETXERAT, the Basque prisoner GARIKOITZ Aspiazu was transferred this Thursday from the French prison in Lannemenburg to the prison in Martutene in the Basque Country. Aspiazu was arrested in Cauterets, France, in 2008 and was in Lannemencontran prison, some 290 kilometres from Euskal Herria, according to police sources. In November he will serve sixteen years in prison. The prisoner himself has requested that he comply with the sentence imposed in Euskal Herria.
With the repatriation of Aspiazu to Euskal Herria, there are now five prisoners in French state jails: Arkaitz Agirregabiria, Iñaki Esparza, Javier Abaunza and Mikel Karrera Lannemran are detained, and Saioa Sánchez is located in Reaun, 890 kilometres from Euskal Herria.
