When the Supreme Court estimated in December 2023 the resources of the Xunta de Galicia and EDP Renewables, around a wind macro-power plant planned in the Corme estuary area, the companies operating in the renewables sector rubbed their hands, hoping that they would abandon a judgment of the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG).
This TSXG ruling paralysed 16 wind power plants. But the Galician court, far from going back, has adapted its decision to the Supreme Resolution and continues with the ban on 13 wind power plant projects, as Nòs Invoice explained.
To this end, it argues that the timing of the appeals is too narrow and that it is at periculum in mora, that is, that if this provisional measure of suspension is not adopted there is a risk that wind turbines will cause irreversible damage to the environment.
In total, abandoned wind power plants would produce 334.4 megawatts of energy and want to be implemented in thirteen Galician regions.
March against the wind commissions on Sunday
In the Basque Country, initiatives against wind macro-power plants also continue. In the Commissions, convened by the Makro Eoliko Ez platform, a tour will take place on Sunday at Monte Ubieta-Zipar and next week other initiatives have been organized such as the issue of a documentary and the exhibition in Balmaseda.
This platform announced in the note sent to ARGIA that it is intended to build two large wind installations in the Commissions. In one of them, 6 wind turbines of 200 meters would travel, affecting Gordexola and different Alavese localities, and in the other, 7 wind turbines would be installed in the municipalities of Sopuerta, Galdames, Güeñes and Zalla. Added to the already built facilities, production in the region would exceed 200 MW, "well above our needs", they explain.
He has also criticised the new Energy Transition Act adopted by the Basque Parliament on 8 February: "There is no transition – he said – it is a continuing law that makes our territory available to the Catholic funds". Thus, they explain that they are collaborating with initiatives from other regions to carry out the demonstration on April 13 in Azpeitia of the Euskal Herria Bizirik platform.
