The Tour de France, which has more than a century of history, wants to deal with Covid19 disease. On 15 April, the head of the race, Christian Prudhomme, announced new dates for the Olympic Games, such as the Euro Cup or the Olympic Games, in which the Summer Festivals are being phased out.
The 107 edition will be held from 29 August to 20 September, and not from 27 June to 19 July, as originally planned. The platoon will depart from Nice and take the planned route, as reported by Le Monde.
"At first we thought of delaying ourselves at the beginning of August, we had nothing in mind for July, but after hearing the speech of Professor Xavier Bigard (known physician of the International Cycling Union), we said: Let's go as far as we can."
This delay was inevitable because French President Emmanuel Macron said on 13 April that "mass events were totally banned", at least until mid-July.
