What seemed impossible or complicated has materialized: The leftist parties undertake to form a single candidature for the elections to the French Parliament. On the occasion of the victory of the far-right RN National Union in the votes to the European Parliament, President Emmanuel Macron took the decision to dissolve Parliament on the night of 9 June calling for new votes for 30 June and 7 July. Aware of the victory of the far right and therefore of the real risk of the coalition government between RN and Macron, the leftist parties met the following day to agree on a single candidature to prevent the rise of the far right.
Before the extreme right, Fabien Roussel of the communist party PCF, Marine Tondelier of the Ecologists, Olivier Faure of the Socialist Party and Manuel Bompard of France Insumisoa, approached the thousands of citizens who joined in the square of the Republic of Paris: "We promise that we will be united until victory."
With just 20 days for the first round of elections, they call on the citizens to form a new "popular front" of the left.

Now they have to agree on the program for the first 100 days of that coalition government, but their fate is clearly marked: "Our goal is to respond to democratic, ecological and social emergencies and to govern for peace." The call also includes the Plaza Pública, Génération.s [Belaunaldia.k] and the Republican and Socialist Left GRS. There, they call on their militants to submit joint candidatures.
The Left is divided into the French State, and the internal divisions have been manifested in the campaign of votes to the European Parliament. In this regard, although it undertakes to present jointly, during those twenty days, the programme necessary to reach an agreement will generate discrepancies. A reflection of this climate is that this Tuesday morning the MEP of the Socialist Party, Raphaël Glucksmann, announced that he will not support the "programme supporting France Itsumisoa".
For its part, the RN party is also meeting with the other parties on the right. Marine Le Pen and Bardella met on Monday with fascist Marion Maréchal of Reconquête [La Reconquista]. The Republican LR also wants to negotiate with party representatives and Le Pen considers it feasible for them to support each other in the second round.
The list of Jordan Bardella of the RN obtained 31.8% of the votes and multiplied the calls to form a "left-wing popular front" on Sunday night, by citizens, unions, associations and leftist collectives. Among others, 350 well-known citizens published their opinion column in the newspaper Le Monde. You could read the following: "Only the union of left-wing and environmentalist forces can hinder this enormous prospect [the victory of the extreme right in Parliament] and open the hope for a better life."
