The CJEU resolution follows complaints, actions and campaigns by different bodies and groups. For example, in July they succeeded in banning the use of drones at the border.
LAB stresses that since January 2021, after the extraordinary period of pandemic and renouncing the Schengen Pact and the Community principle of free movement of persons, the French Government has been given the power to freely close the Bidasoa border. It is now two and a half years since closure, and closure has been renewed every six months according to arbitrary and untransparent criteria. Soon, on 1 November, the limit will expire again.
The LAB syndicate, in addition to these allegations, recalls its active participation in different actions and initiatives, rejecting the "death policy on the imposed border of the Bidasoa (and in all limits)", denouncing the "impunity of governments" and demanding decent rights and opportunities for all people, for those on the way, and for those who decide to continue in Euskal Herria.
