The French State established the population confinement on 17 March and planned to end next Tuesday. Once extended, the same rules will apply to citizens as they have so far and are prohibited from leaving the house if it is not for work or health reasons. Philippe has said that the objective of the government's containment is to curb the spread of the epidemic and that hospitals can cope "as far as possible" with the flow of severe cases. The Paris Government's Scientific Advisory Council already recommended last Tuesday that the lockdown should last "at least six weeks".
Citizens must at present bear with them the reason for their departure by declaring an affidavit if they are evicted from their home: buying essential products, exercising physical activity around housing, helping vulnerable people or going to work when they are unable to telework.
The Paris authorities have indicated that over 225,000 sanctions have been imposed throughout the world in the first ten days of confinement. The first complaint involves a fine of EUR 135, the second 15 days a fine of EUR 1,500 and the third infringement of the rules on more than three occasions in 30 days can reach EUR 3,750, plus a prison risk of six months.
