The mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Gorka Urtaran, denounced in a press conference this morning that he is negotiating agreements "in offices" with the company FCC. The nationalist group believes that in the municipal working group that is formed to deal with the issue of waste, the PNV has kept a legal report of the municipality on the matter hidden.
EH Bila denounces that this report, prepared by the head of the purchasing and contracting service, was signed on April 10, but at the meeting held eight days later the municipal government did not report it.
In the words of Councilman Aitor Miguel, Urtaran "wanted to put the red carpet on the FCC, earning more money by presenting it again to the allocation. The mayor is closing deals in the offices by committing legal fraud, protecting the privileges of this multinational garbage company." To request information on the matter, Miguel requests the mayor’s appearance.
In April, it became known that the FCC had to leave the cleaning service in Vitoria-Gasteiz, since the Basque Legal Advisory Committee issued a resolution on the discrepancies between the city council and the company: The judgment stated that the annual overexpenditure of EUR 1.7 million in the Vitoria-Gasteiz clean-up agreement should be borne by the company. Then Urtaran revealed that the FCC would resign from the agreement, but the municipal opposition strongly criticized this option, arguing that the FCC would have a way to bid again.
