On Wednesday, the Mortgage Affected Platform (PAH) called for a solution to prevent the eviction of Berriozar's neighbor FRED Agbontaen and his family. Awaiting the answer, Agbontaen, his wife and two children 20 and 4 years old remain in his home buying this apartment in 2006 through a mortgage with the Real Estate Credit Union, of which the Banco Santander and BNP Paribas are members. The mortgage, which initially amounted to EUR 600 per month, amounted to EUR 1,150 and finally became unsustainable for the family. Although Fred is currently working, his income is the sole sustenance of the family and part of it is dedicated to helping his mother and sister in Niger.
The PAH has organized a concentration in front of the office of the Banco Santander in the plaza del Castillo, in which they have claimed "no eviction without response". Jesús Fernández, a member of the platform, explained that "through complaints, a code of good practices has been obtained that has not been offered again".
After several negotiations without results, the house has been auctioned, although there is not yet a date for eviction. From the PAH they have indicated that "we will mobilize many people so that this does not happen". In addition, they have denounced that the bank does not pay for their housing, as it has a debt contracted with the community for reforms.
The platform advocates paying for rent or for social rent as a possible solution and has announced that it will seek the mediation of the Government of Navarra in the Foral Community. In addition, an attempt has been made to hold talks with the senior officials of the Banco Santander, but "they have not understood it", as explained by sources from the Banco Santander. According to the PAH, Agbontaen always showed his willingness to pay within his economic possibilities.
