The left triples the distance to the far-right in Iparralde
- On 30 June last, in the first round, the Frente Popular Nuevo coalition won 11,000 votes less than the National Union (EU). He has now cast 30,000 votes. The representatives of the three constituencies travelling to Paris will be from the New People's Front.
As in the French State, a popular wall against the ultra-right has also been established in Iparralde, and the union of the left has made a decisive contribution to this. "We have refused to dance to the extreme right," said the members of the Frente Popular Nuevo coalition after learning that Peio Dufau will be a Basque parliamentarian.
In Euskal Irratiak, Dufau spoke with great satisfaction that he had a hard time talking and said: "I'm not alone. We have also won in the other two constituencies. It goes beyond the historical." In addition, he said that the fact that the nationalists were counted in Ipar Euskal Herria was the victory in France. Moreover, from a French state perspective, he referred to the need for the ultra-right to stop: "It's important that we realize, it's going to be in our hands, that the extreme right stays. If it's gone so hard and fast, we have to listen to people and show that the left serves to work. What unites us is much faster than what differentiates us."
In Ipar Euskal Herria, the left-wing bloc, the New Popular Front, has been imposed on the National Union in the three constituencies. In the fourth, Iñaki Etxaniz made a difference of 11,000 votes – 7,000 in the first round – Colette Capdevielle, in the fifth, 16,000 votes – 3,000 in the previous one – and in the sixth, Peio Dufau won 6,000 – half before. In the latter constituency, Ensemble narrowed the voting gap, Dufau managed to become his representative by 700 fewer votes.
By municipality: In 142 of 160, the New Popular Front expires
It is illustrative what the map shows: Ipar Euskal Herria has spoken clearly in favour of the left. In Lapurdi it has been imposed in 30 of the 41 municipalities; in Baja Navarra in 68 of 75; and in Zuberoa in 44 of 44.
The map shows more clearly the superiority. Macronists have remained strong from San Juan de Luz to Biarritz on the coast, except for Bidart. And, moreover, the far-right has only won in some villages: For example, by Ainhoa.
