They tell us that Venezuela is a dictatorship, they tell us that they guarantee the rights of migrants and refugees, they tell us that incinerators are non-polluting, they tell us that there is equality between women and men, they tell us that we are all equal before the law, they tell us that accidents at work are inevitable, they tell us that the APR is necessary, they tell us that there has been no state terrorism, they guarantee us linguistic rights… but we do not believe them.
They have told us that the new virus is the strongest of the last decades, they have told us it is a pandemic, they have told us that the only path is confinement, they have told us that we need military in our streets, that children are the most polluting, they have told us that all measures have been taken with scientific criteria, that more people are dying than ever before… and we have believed them.
If we haven't believed them in other areas, why do we believe them in health? Why does unique thinking prevail in all areas of health (medicines, vaccines, chemotherapy…)?
We have been told that the so-called Coronavirus has caused 280,000 deaths worldwide (11 May). We have not been told that more than 8,500 children in the world die every day from malnutrition, more than 6 million a year (Unicef, World Health Organization, World Bank data). We have not been told that what they called the war in Syria has caused more than 500,000 deaths, including the weapons here. We have not been told that contamination of all kinds (including electromagnetic) causes millions of cases of cancer…
As for the Spanish state, in terms of overall deaths, we are told that in March 2020 there were 48,806 deaths (pandemic), but in January 2017 there were 49,370 deaths (no pandemic). As for the growth of death, we are told that in March 2020 there have been 23% more deaths than in March 2018 (pandemic), but in February 2012 there were 43,740 deaths, 28% more than in February 2011 (no pandemic). On the other hand, in these weeks it is not said that more than 50,000 people die each year from tobacco (the shells opened in confinement due to a virus that affects the respiratory system! ).
We've been told a lot of data. Up the data, down the data, as a simple citizen, I don't know if the virus comes from bats. I don't know if the virus has been created in a lab. I don't know if they're symptoms of 5G or if 5G helps spread the virus. I don't know if it's like a severe flu. I'm not an expert in health or biology, nor am I a scientist. Excuse me for daring.
But we knew that there was a new economic crisis. We knew they wanted to control us. We knew that the model and the situation of nursing homes were unbearable. We knew that the cuts were going to have health consequences (since 2007 beds have been reduced by 10% in the hospitals of Hego Euskal Herria). We knew that the climate emergency was causing increasingly violent phenomena. We have been much more captivated and we have believed them. We have never believed them, but we have believed them. Discerning, disobedient and submissive critics. Why?
