In 2016, a year after the arrival of the so-called Government of Change in Navarre, journalists Ion Orzaiz and Joxerra Senar have presented the “Navarra” initiative. Now or never.” Apocalyptic and prophetic title later. It took stock of the first year of the new government and gathered the challenges they faced until the end of the legislature. Despite the fact that only the first year of the mandate had passed, it can be read in it that the Government is accused of the slowness of the measures and of the lack of courage, or of the declarations of despair of the Basque people.

Today we know how the next three years have passed. Although there were advances over the dark decade of the UPN government (it was not difficult), there was no significant structural leap in the recovery process of the Basque Country and in overcoming zoning. The government of change did not represent almost any change in the situation of the Basque people and in the language rights of the Basque people.

The year 2019 came and with the new elections there was a change of government. This new change was not a leap back that would lead to involution, but it is evident that with the current correlation of forces it seems almost impossible to achieve the recognition of the officiality throughout Navarra. We almost say we don't want to fall into despair. But given the lack of courage of some of the current governments, and the attitude of some of them in Basque, we have little hope.

The fact that at the beginning of the previous legislature the illusions that have been aroused in the world of the Basque Country and in the Basque Country have left the opposite throat remains undigested. At that time we were robbed of sleep and now we are not given the chance to dream. But we cannot look back at potential missed opportunities. Past waters do not move mills.

We cannot fall into conformism. Let us see what crumbs we can get in the present situation, because the situation does not allow us to dream. The Basques are not satisfied with bread crumbs, we want and we need all the bread. We need full knowledge and guarantee of language rights. And the first step to achieving that is to get back to sleep. A dream that will take into account the current reality, but which, at the same time, will give us the illusion of the Basque people to articulate a broad and powerful dynamic in favor of the official. Adverse factors dominate at this time, but are not eternal. In the coming years we will have to rebuild the grain, full of tireless and patience, which led to the fall of the regime in 2015. Recover complicity and create new ones, incorporating new sectors into the demand to overcome zoning. To do so, we Euskaltzales must reopen the injustice of zoning, people to people, association to partnership, area by area.

At the moment there does not appear to be any change that could reverse positions in this case in the medium term, but it seemed the same on the eve of the separation of Barcina from the government. The regime is established in the zoning of the Basque Country as one of the most important trenches in order to survive. But we are convinced that this trench is not insurmountable. Just as in 2015 we managed to demolish the regime’s government by citizens’ initiative and street mobilizations, we will succeed in overcoming zoning by citizens’ initiative and street mobilizations.

With this goal in mind, we in Euskal Herria are ready to add our little bit of sand. Thus, on 15 December, coinciding with the 34th anniversary of the Law of the Vascuence, we call on the Euskaltzales to meet before the Parliament and to reclaim the Basque Government throughout Navarre. What now seems impossible for it to happen someday, as soon as possible.
