In August the collective Herribiltza began the change of order of the roadside signs. "A language, to live, needs a territory where it is used primarily and predominantly," the group said. Herribiltza is the College of Basque Citizens' Congresses, "an institution from all over the Basque Country that aims to guarantee in our hands the power to decide on the lives of Basque citizens".
He reported that on more than one occasion the Council of Department and the City Hall have been asked to prioritize the use of Euskera: 19 March, 27 May and 19 June. “As the General Council of the Department of Atlantic Pyrenees does not respond to our request for a meeting, we have continued with the auzolans for the survival of the Basque Country,” they announced.
On the other hand, Herribiltza explains that last Thursday they met Donibane Garazi's candidate. “He told us that the management of the boards of the margin of the route of the names of the towns is a matter for the department and told us that he would transfer our request for a meeting to the department.”
