We have asked for an "emergency" meeting of the parties supporting the Government of Navarra to decide what response it gives to the ruling of the National Court. In an interview with Euskalerria Irratia, parliamentarian Ainhoa Aznárez stated that "it is not possible to reverse" the progress made in the previous legislature. He has denounced that the ruling of the Court of Navarra limits the right to communicate in Basque in the administration to the Basque region.
EH spokeswoman Bildu, Bakartxo Ruiz, said that "measures must be taken" and that the party will "immediately" put on the table the need for a new Basque law and the request to do so. "I find it terrible, regrettable that German or French are valued for working in the Navarre administration and that they cannot be scored for the knowledge of the Basque Country," Ruiz said in Euskalerria Irratia.
In the same vein, the Geroa Bai coalition has spoken. "With the judgment, the knowledge of any foreign language has more value than the knowledge of a language of its own in Navarre, which is that of the Basque Country", he regretted. As he stressed, with this ruling the Basque Country is not going to be valued in the contest of merits because it says that what it does not know is rejected, "but at the same time a paradox can be created because knowledge of foreign languages such as English, French, Italian or German is valued". It has asked the Government of Navarre to bring an appeal before this judgment "with the aim of guaranteeing the linguistic rights of all Navarre citizens".
On the other hand, Alternatiba denounced the "denial and repression of the linguistic rights" of Vasco-speakers in Navarre.
PSN: "The court ruling confirms the position of the party"
The reactions of the PSN and Navarre Suma have not been expected and have not changed. PSN organisational secretary Ramón Alzorriz said that the resolution "ratifies" the party's position. The foral decree of the Basque Country "is exclusive" and "does not correspond" to the sociolinguistic reality of Navarre, as indicated. "The Basque Country," he said, "cannot be an element of confrontation, nor can it be used politically". In similar terms, the members of the Navarra coalition Suma Juan Luis Sánchez de Muniáin and Marta Álvarez have spoken: "The courts support our position; the foral decree excluded all non-vasco-speaking citizens. It's a tough blow to Chivite's peers. Navarra Suma argues that the Government of Navarre, which presides over "must respect" the Supreme Court's decision.
Council: "We must legally shield language rights so that they are not subject to the judicial authority"
The judgment of the Superior Court of Justice of Navarre did not surprise Council Secretary General Paul Bilbao. In statements to Euskalerria Irratia, Bilbao has pointed out that “the current legal framework allows for such sentences. We need a new Basque law so that language rights are not subject to the courts.”
The resolution has raised a number of controversies among the following actors:
📌We are foreigners in our house. Thoughts constructed from hegemonic languages only lead to exclusion. As long as the Basque is not official throughout Navarre, we will be citizens without rights. Let us give a joint answer. #napartheidhttps://t.co/UCwp2sKp3F

The column starts with a discussion that seems absurd to the naked eye: 2024 if it was one of our literary numbers, how would you call it?
