Most readers are probably in favour of the first option, but they are doing so in vain: in the absence of a state, the law is against. The area of Health has a peculiarity that does not exist in other administrative areas, and that can make Basque an absolutely essential language. What is more, it can help make the Basque language a working language. It is, of course, about verbal relations with patients, but also, and above all, about the clinical documentation and its characteristics. The computerized and unified clinical history is unique, not modifiable for the protection of patients, that is, once written in Euskera, it will remain when it is. Therefore, the writing of the clinical history in Euskera obliges all health personnel involved in the care process to understand Euskera, in order to ensure patient safety. Other situations do not occur, and linguistic profiles do not guarantee their use.

To this end, the Basque itineraries were proposed. Through these, it is possible to progressively guarantee the service in Euskera, with specialized care from primary care, in oral and written relations. It is not a radical proposal, but an adapted and gradual one. Created for a working framework dominated by monolingual Castilian speaking workers. But it can have a promising future: if you work with documentation in Euskera, the number and average of Euskaldunes workers is increasing, the Basque Country becomes indispensable. Preferably indispensable, because it is necessary for work and not obligatory, because this is established by law.

However, the Directorate does not want the Basque Country to become indispensable for the citizens. That is why he wants to put in Spanish the little we write in Basque, through Itzulbide. At the crossroads, he has chosen the wrong path: attractive, inclusive, progressive and opulent, rather than an unavoidable need. Those who say that the process of normalization of the Basque country must be done slowly and carefully, have suddenly and urgently decided on a shortcut that goes nowhere.
