The kilometer 1.062 of the Korrika has been dedicated to the universalization of the Basque Country, in Donibane Garazi: AEK representatives have made a statement calling on the institutions to take the step to ensure free knowledge of the Basque Country. Calls are made for the establishment of a roadmap and the implementation of measures, with particular emphasis on collaboration: “We know different proposals and routes (UEMA, Euskarabidea, EEP, HPS, municipalities, Council...). Let’s get together and complete, in partnership, and before it’s too late.”
They have called for the universalization of the knowledge of Euskera, referring to the need to accelerate the process of normalization of Euskera: "Free for all citizens of Euskal Herria." Precisely, in order to create the necessary conditions for the comfortable use of the Basque Country, they consider it essential that knowledge of the language be guaranteed. In this regard, they stress that administrations have a special role and are the key to moving from commitments to action. AEK, despite the progress that has been made so far, has called for further progress, calling for an end to the imbalance and inequality between speakers.
They have asked the main administrations of Euskal Herria to implement policies that give prestige to Euskera and prioritize its use. They have emphasized the need to emphasize the educational system, the Euskaldunization of adults and the linguistic transmission and socialization because they are the sources and conditions for universalizing the knowledge of the Basque Country.
Being in Lower Navarra, they have asked for a special effort from the public institutions of Iparralde: The Basque Government has called on the EEP and the Single Community of Iparralde to support free adult literacy. “For Euskera to be a feasible right for all people who are not, but want to learn Euskera,” read Alizia Iribarren, General Coordinator of AEK.
In addition to the attendees, a statement has been signed by: BATUZ Euskaltegi Elkartea, AEK, Juan Mateo Zabala Euskaltegia, Gabriel Aresti Euskaltegia, IKA La Rioja, Bai&By, Gotzon Garitaonaindia euskaltegia, HEGOALDE euskaltegia, Bilbo Zaharra maiztegia e Euskaltegia. AEK and the Euskaltegis, following the motto HitzEkin, have taken the witness to underline the need to take a step from words to deeds.

Not more than a year living in Vitoria when I first saw Korrika. It was daylight, I was carrying my daughter in a backpack, and a bunch of speakers around me, and among those friends, Rosa, who is still beside me. About her daughter, what to say, is almost 14 years old, and in... [+]
