The website Herriko Burdin was created in 2002, at the initiative of journalist Inaxio Esnaola. Since then, he has worked with the goal of being “the Basque speaker of groups and agents” and, for almost two decades, has talked about a worrying trend in a press release.

According to the Iron of the Basque Country, the problem is generic in the heavy metal scene of the Basque Country: one of the problems is that groups use larger languages, but not the only one. “The same thing happens with concerts and festivals. We see many posters in Spanish, we collect them and share them,” they explained in the note. “It’s not so hard to put the information in Basque (too),” he explained the initiative, which recalled that they have asked “many times that the information in the posters be bilingual, but for some strange reasons it has not been possible”.

In particular, Herriko Burdina has focused on two festivals: Euskal Metal Fest and Dimetal Fest. “As for communication, they prioritize Spanish and, although they try, they do not give the Basque the importance it deserves,” according to Herriko Burdin.

He added that from the web they intend to continue supporting the two festivals, but he stressed that "we must turn the situation around". To this end, Herriko Burdina has publicly offered his collaboration and has shown his readiness to translate and advise on everything that is required. “Because in Euskal Herria we want to live, share, disseminate and enjoy heavy metal (also) in Basque.”
