The Etxerat Association has spread a message through social media this morning concerned about the additional risks posed by the health emergency in prisons: “Prisoners alone cannot take care of their health.” The association of family and friends of Basque political prisoners has joined in the urgent measures required of the Government by more than 30 institutions of the Spanish State.
“Our main concern is the seriously ill prisoners over the age of 70,” the association said: “Risk and vulnerability are doubled in jail. Their freedom is necessary and urgent.”
French State
ETXERAT has also addressed the French State. He recalled that if the Prosecutor ' s Office had not taken a stand against it, many of the prisoners currently in prison could be on the street. On the other hand, it has recognised that some measures have been taken to alleviate the effects of the interruption of visits, but has requested free video connections to avoid "disconnection".
“You can’t increase suffering. Now more than ever, we want Basque political prisoners and exiles at home, at home and alive,” concluded Etxerat.
Our main concern is the sick prisoners who are within the vulnerable group and prisoners over 70 years of age. Prisoners' freedom is fundamental to #Inmates Home #Prisoners #Dispertsioastop #Convicted pic.twitter.com/LK3Izo4dpL
