In the future also in favour of mountains
- The threats of about twenty years ago return to the mountains of Gipuzkoa, and not to the extent that it is, but in greater size and quantity. These projects, some of which have already been built, such as the Zubieta incinerator, are located in the countryside or on the mountain. It is now the turn of the gigantic wind turbines, 200 metres high, and the photovoltaic power stations occupying many hectares. All of them in the name of sustainable energy. There are many mountains threatened by destruction: Sañu, Txoondegi, Komisolatza, Mendibeltz, Illaun, Urraki, Izazpi, Samiño, Oleta, Meaka and Irimo, Larramendi, Basalgo, Andutz, Ezkeltzu, Adarra, Zaburu… More and more.
The ecological damage caused by these large-scale energy infrastructures will mean that Gipuzkoa will be transformed forever. If we continue to believe in industry, we run the risk of becoming an ultra-industrialised territory, to the point of having to go to other places to know what mountains and fields are.
The mountain and the rural environment are of great importance in our territory, especially for the ecosystem, but also for forestry, agriculture and livestock, hunting and fishing, sport activities and fishing... We cannot forget the social functions of mountains and natural spaces, which reinforce the texture of communities, which also incorporate our culture and our history. In addition to that, the mountains, the landscapes of Gipuzkoa are also creative identities, they make us the way we are. They connect us to the territory. What link would future Gipuzkoans have if we destroyed them completely?

Eider Mendoza seems to be the Sustainable Energy Strategy. That the Gipuzkoa 2050 report has been forgotten in the drawer of the Council of Gipuzkoa. In fact, he has just said that similar reports are very expensive. The document was approved on December 21, 2021, St. Thomas Day, by chance?, and in its 534 pages it says that, due to the orography and population density of Gipuzkoa, the territory is not suitable for the development of this type of macro-projects and are not profitable.
The report itself, on the other hand, points to the need to create a decentralised energy network for near and small self-consumption. Well, let's start with that and invest public money in it, and let's use the Next generation miscellaneous funds to make all the lives of the people of the future live; and let's not fill the pockets where the multinationals want.
There are, therefore, alternatives to develop before that model they want to impose. Those who are in a hurry to approve the Renewable Energy PTS and who have no more to do these macro-projects have where to turn: Sustainable Energy Strategy Gipuzkoa Report 2050.
To conclude, on September 29, at 13:00 noon, in the main pilgrimage that is held every year on the last Sunday of September in Zelatun, under Ernio, the members of Gipuzkoako Mendia Askea do not have wind power plants in Mendieta! We would like to invite you to a concentration that will take place under the motto:
We will continue to be faithful to the struggle of two decades ago for the mountains and the countryside.
