Since the coronavirus crisis reached Euskal Herria in mid-March, ETB1 audience data have been reduced week by week, month by month. As a result, in May the channel had an average of 1% screen share in Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa. The chain has lost two tenths from the previous month, and it is one point and four tenths from the same month last year, when it lost two tenths. In fact, last May, ETB1 had a 2.4% screen share, compared to 2.4% last year.
June has not started well for the Basque chain either. On the night of June 1, Kronokrimenak achieved a 0.4% screen share in prime time; at the same time, the ETB2 program The Conqueror of the Caribbean obtained a 24.3% screen share. No exception: on Monday night, ETB2 gets between 23 and 24 points higher than the ETB1 movie offer.
Between 18 and 24 May, the Basque chain had the worst week in its history in terms of audience data: Average share of 0.8%.
ETB2 closed in May with a display fee of 10.4%, 1.9 points higher than the same month last year. With the arrival of the coronavirus, the chain in Spanish experienced a remarkable rise, especially thanks to Teleberri’s data. But it has already stabilised and lost two tenths between April and May. The conqueror of the Caribbean is very strong; in addition to being a leader on Monday, the debate on Wednesdays has had a great boom in recent weeks.
The ETB3 chain, for its part, is kept up to date: The programme closed in May with a screen fee of 0.3%. ETB4 still has a share of 0.6%.
In Catalonia, TV3 is the leader
In Catalonia, the Catalan public channel TV3 remains the leader: The programme closed in May with a screen fee of 14.7%. In the most visible strings, Tele5 takes three points to the second.
In Galicia, the TVG chain, which broadcasts entirely in Galician, has reached 9.7% of the quota last month, which represents a half-point increase compared to April.
Among the Spanish television programs, Survivors, of the Mediaset group, it has been imposed in the following numbers: As far as the Catalan countries, Galicia, the Southern Basque Country and Spain are concerned, nineteen of the 25 most spectators have had in May in their different versions are from this reality. In Hego Euskal Herria there are also many followers. Tele5 has been the leader of Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa in May, with an average screen share of 15.3%, followed by EiTB.
As far as advertising is concerned, the figures are small compared to the first two months of the year, but in the last weeks of May television advertising has increased.
In Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, every inhabitant spends four hours and 16 minutes a day in front of traditional television.

The news I read a few weeks ago prompted me to address this issue: ETB3’s decision not to extend Ene Kantak’s children’s program at ETB3 surprised me and I still do not understand it, being an orderly and appropriate program.
