Strasbourg supports the punishment imposed on Pablo Hasel

This Thursday, the European Court of Human Rights resolution on the conviction and sentence of imprisonment imposed on Pablo Hasel in the courts of the Spanish State has been published. Strasbourg welcomes the punishment imposed on the rap singer and adds that “it is not an attack on freedom of expression”, although he has been tried for his letters, accusing him of “insulting the crown” and “exalting terrorism”. They ask about the possible “negative consequences”, according to El Salto. The Spanish Court has expressed its unanimity and has been final.
Since February 2021, almost three years, the rap singer works as a prisoner. The Aura Rapporteur’s Platform of Repression announced in July that the courts had already known all the penalty against it: "six years and two months for exercising their right to freedom of expression and political activism". It seems, therefore, that he will be held until 2027.
On Thursday, this Catalan platform offered a press conference calling for “mistrust” in courts and institutions: "They have taught us on several occasions that we cannot trust and be deceived." The platform has called for a return to the street to "protest jointly and organized". On 17 November, they convened a meeting in Barcelona to request "that they archive all amnesty and all causes of repression".
