ETXERAT has taken advantage of the mobilisations of the last Friday of each month to put the case on the table. In fact, the association has denounced that until this week the Penitentiary Institutions of the Spanish State had suspended family visits and coexistence in El Dueso, Burgos, Soria and Logroño, and those of coexistence in Alcalá and Villabona.
As for the prisons of Hego Euskal Herria, the prison in Pamplona has not recovered the visits of cohabitation, and in the rest of the prisons there are confinements of up to ten days after each visit.
“Enough is enough,” said ETXERAT, understanding that “there is no reason” not to make visits that will allow you to hug in prisons compared to the evolution of the pandemic and the situation living on the street. In addition, the partnership has added that it is time to bravely address other options than prison: expelling sick prisoners and giving third grade.
ETXERAT believes that it is a good time to call on the Spanish Government once and for all to bring prisoners to Basque prisons. In fact, they have recalled that 69 prisoners of the collective remain in prison in the preiferities of Euskal Herria, where many prisoners are held.
Finally, ETXERAT regretted the death of the Corso political prisoner Yvan Colonna and called on the French State to end its derogation with regard to Basque political prisoners.
