Due to the new times without ETA, in May Senator Jon Inarritu of EH Bila asked the Spanish Government to carry out an in-depth study on the special work award.
The territorial bonus is charged by the Spanish police and civil guards, which differs according to the reality of each territory due to the risk and other factors taken into account.
“Fortunately we do not have ETA terrorism but the security forces are socially excluded,” said Ramón Cossio, head of the SUP, who also denounced the “difficult integration” in Basque society.
Sources of the Ministry of the Interior have indicated that it is premature to give a response on the labor prize and that later the Minister of the Interior of Spain, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, the Civil Guard, the National Police and their unions will meet to discuss the matter.
Since ETA ceased its armed activity in 2011, this work award has been raised instead of being withdrawn or reduced.
The Spanish Police and Civil Guard have charged an average of 653 euros since 1986. The State invests 246 million euros per year in the territoriality rate.
Senator Jon Inarritu has demanded the disappearance of these plus and the departure of the Guardia Civil and the Spanish Police from the Basque Country. According to the Ministry of the Interior, there are currently 1,929 police officers and 3,865 civilian guards in the South.
