At the beginning of September 2019, Joan Llobet –whose real name is Álvaro Gaztelu Alcaire, as confirmed by Directa– went to a bar of the Ateneu Cooperatiu de Lleida, a year after graduating from the 32nd promotion of the Ávila Police School. Endavant was associated there with a member of the independence organization, which was his first contact with the political and social movements of Lleida. Since then, according to Directa, he participated "actively" in various organizations and events of the Catalan independence left until he announced in November 2021 that he had to move to Barcelona for reasons of work and maternal health.

The same media published in early March the case of the infiltrated policeman Belén Hammad, who graduated in the same promotion as Joan Llobet. In fact, Directa points out that there are many similarities in the method of infiltration of the two: the two left political militancy arguing for family reasons, and with a false identity document they created bank accounts –Hammad at Triodos Bank and Llobet at Caixabank. In addition, with this false identity document, the two signed up for different sports teams or meeting points: Hammad joined the Pony's FS futsal team based at the Joan Miró Sports Centre in Barcelona, and Llobet signed up at the Club Uppercut Lleida to practice kickboxing and muay thay there.

The infiltrator enrolled in a Higher Level Cycle of Education and Environmental Control at the Escola del Treball in Lleida for the 2019-2020 school year. One of his classmates tells Directa that he is "absolutely sure" that Llobet was throwing stones and barricades to the police during the riots that erupted when the sentence of the Catalan process came to light. In addition to the pro-independence left, the police, born in Teruel, also approached other political circles in Catalonia: In November 2020 he traveled to Girona, where he participated in the national round table organized by the Union of Students of Catalan Countries SEPC. In addition, the PAH of Lleida regularly approached the assemblies of the Platform of People Affected by Mortgages, and also approached various activities of the young ecological group Extinction Rebellion.

The Last Paper

The last incident in which Llobet played an active role was the imprisonment of the rapper Pablo Hasel. In February 2021 he participated in the closing of the rectory of the University of Lleida to avoid the arrest of the rapper. In November of the same year he moved to Barcelona, telling his neighbors that he had found work there and that his grandmother’s health had deteriorated. There he also maintained contacts with the pro-independence left, specifically with Casal La Cruïlla, participating in various actions on the occasion of the Day Against Machista Violence on November 25. Since then, however, they have not heard from him until they confirm that he was a police infiltrator.

Reactions to infiltration

Along with his career in the Lleida movements, Directa has received statements from several friends that Joan Llobet made between 2019 and 2021. María Taribó, spokeswoman for Ateneu Cooperatiu’s Bar La Baula, where the infiltrator began her career, says that the Spanish state repeatedly opposes the “popular organization” and that the infiltrator published on Tuesday is just another example: "They are trying to close the doors of our spaces, but we will continue to self-organize and fight." According to Borja García of the Endavant de Lleida organization, today they have won "a fight against the repressive apparatus of the Spanish State".
