The Government of Spain will not send a delegation to the inauguration of Quim Torra
- The Government of Spain will not attend the event where Quim Torra will be the president of Catalonia, arguing that the Government of Catalonia wants to “impose the level of a government delegation” and that “the event organized by the Generalitat degrades the dignity of the institution”.
The Palace of the Generalitat will take the oath of office of the new president. The President of the Parliament, Roger Torrent, and the relatives of the Torah will be there.

Until the Government of Carles Puigdemont, the presidential inauguration events have been organized as follows: The President of the Catalan Parliament asked the candidate if he would “honestly fulfill his duties as President of the Generalitat de Catalunya with respect for the King, the Constitution and the Statute of Autonomy and the Catalan institutions.”
On the other hand, at Puigdemont’s inauguration, the then President of the Parliament, Carme Forcadell, broke the schematics and asked the former president if he swore that “he would honestly fulfill his duties as President of the Generalitat with respect for the aspirations of the Catalan people represented by the Parliament.”
The head of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, has said that he will propose a legislative change to make the swearing-in of the Constitution mandatory during the acts of inauguration. Sánchez explains that it can be done by changing the electoral law or even by creating a rule expressly for this purpose.
