The Special Arms Programmes are the ones that have most increased military spending: This year the government will spend EUR 3,266 million on military equipment, infrastructure, construction and weapons, 30.2% more than in 2020.
The Delás report also reveals that EUR 59 million a day is spent on military accounts. Military expenditure in 2021 amounts to EUR 456 per inhabitant. The heading for military R & D amounts to EUR 861.14 million.
The Delás Centre claims the need to rethink the idea of security: "We believe that the increase in military spending, especially for new weapons, shows that the priorities set are very dubious and it is necessary to rethink our idea of security as soon as possible. Rather than being linked to the state's capacity for destruction, security must be based on policies based on the security and care of people."
