Women of the Spanish football league sign the first collective agreement
- - Finally. This is the most repeated word, because women footballers had been calling for a collective agreement for months. The ACFF Club Association and the football unions signed Tuesday at the headquarters of the Afe Football Association.
"It has been an honour, as president of the EFA, to sign the first women's collective agreement. The courage, unity and friendship of the football players have allowed us to mark a new milestone in the history of our association and of Spanish sport," the president of the EFA, David Aganzo, wrote in his Twitter account.
The intervention of the producer Mediapro to reach an agreement between the employer ACFF and the unions AFE and Futbolistas On has been "fundamental", as the employer has contributed to eleven football teams 100,000 euros, each for the management of television rights and static advertising in the fields.
The agreement has been signed by eleven of the sixteen clubs in the First Division. Athletic, Barcelona and CD Tacón are not members of the ACFF; Madrid has not participated in the sale; and Sevilla is negotiating on its own with the Mediapro. The agreement will remain in force during this season and for the following two.
Minimum wage: EUR 16,000
The collective agreement provides that soccer players who have a full-time contract will receive a minimum annual wage of EUR 16,000, while those who have a part-time job (75%) will charge EUR 12,000. That's the main point, but there's more, including workplace harassment, pregnancy/maternity cases, or holidays.
