A total of 1,189,917 contracts were registered in the Spanish State in December, according to a report recently published by the Ministry of Labor. Of these new contracts, 464,152 were indefinite, with full-time contracts not reaching 39%. The total number of temporary contracts was 8 out of 10, from 7,027,160 indefinite until December 2022 to 11,283,183 in total. In addition, a total of 18,310,343 contracts were signed in 2022, 4,201,878 less than in 2019 (-18.7%).

Supporters of the PSOE/UN coalition government We can stress that the nominal unemployment figures have returned to the figures before 2007. However, these results do not indicate that the labour market can absorb more workforce in a stable way. On the contrary, they indicate a reduction in labour costs due to inflation and an acceleration in the hiring and dismissal cycles of the same market. In addition, contracting is not increasing: the sum of temporary and undefined contracts accounted for 18,310,343 contracts in 2022 by the Spanish Ministry of Labor, 5.5% less than in 2021 and 18.7% less than in 2019.

In Hego Euskal Herria

In December 57,989 contracts were signed in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. Only 21.29% of them were indefinite, around 12,345. In 2022, a total of 199,995 permanent contracts were signed at the CAPV, and here too the formal adaptation of the Labor Reform leaves a margin of self-deception that the Spanish Ministry of Labor tells us was 148.3% more than in 2021. However, it should be remembered that the group of full-time permanent contracts is still 11% in the CAPV, and that permanent discontinuations are also within the undefined.

In Navarra 22,555 new contracts were signed, of which only 4,331 were indefinite. In December, contracting decreased by 7.74% (1,866 fewer contracts) and 22.82% less than in December last year (6,582 fewer contracts).

Unemployment

Hego Euskal Herria closed 2022 with 205 more unemployed than in November, a disastrous figure, seeing that in December employment is growing. In total, 142,408 people were unemployed. The unemployment rate is 10.4%, four and a half points higher than the latest figures in the European Union.
