"Today Slovenia has the best data on the pandemic in Europe, so we can end the epidemic," said Prime Minister Janez Jansa. Despite the opening of Mugal, he has ensured that a number of measures will remain in force: public sessions are prohibited, the safe distance must be maintained and a mask must be used in public places.
According to the public radio, once the epidemic is over, the State will avoid automatically extending the package of accompanying measures until the end of June. These measures, which are intended to provide financial support for citizens and businesses, will be suspended at the end of May this year.
As of 13 May, 103 deaths and 1,467 patients have been recorded in a population of around two million inhabitants in Slovenia. The first case occurred on 4 March this year. The Prime Minister has specified that in two weeks 35 new cases of breast cancer have been detected between the week.
In the cities of Slovenia, there have been several protests against the "restrictive measures" imposed by the government in recent weeks. The protesters have also mobilized by bicycle to protest against the corruption of the medical equipment that affects Basque citizens. According to several media reports, a government agency purchased abroad a quantity of material through a Slovenian distributor which, in turn, is related to several government representatives. It is assumed that this company has been treated favourably with additional remuneration.
