From this course, Scottish students learn the history of the LGBT movement, debates about identities, LGBT referents, reflections on discrimination... The Scottish Government gave the green light to a request that lasted for years.

For their part, educators will receive a course of awareness-raising and training on the subject, will receive information to help children and young people who may need support and will have at their disposal educational material to work on the subjects properly.

Also visible in the curriculum

The Scottish Ministry of Education has pointed out that "the curriculum must be as plural as the people who learn in our educational centers" and has valued the inclusion of learning materials and non-hegemonic profiles in the curriculum, not only in terms of sexual identity, but also gender or race.

In a recent interview, two teachers have highlighted that sexual liberation in the curricula of schools in the Basque Country is a reality: "Models, examples, curricula, etc. They're used in class and they're so mindful of the cysheterosexual perspective, that every reference in another direction is welcome, because I'm sure there are many students who don't feel identified with the material that's given. The first step is for teachers to be aware of what's behind that resume that we give."

According to the Ministry of Education, the initiative "will not only improve the experience of LGBTI students, but will benefit all students for diversity and coexistence".
