From the environmental, social and economic point of view, numerous groups have denounced the project of Yesa's re-expansion, defended both by the PP and by the PSOE for years. On this occasion, the Aragonesian deputy Jorge Pueyo Chunta referred to security in the Spanish Congress of Deputies. It has warned the Government of the consequences that meteorological phenomena such as cold droplet can have in a larger Esa and has stressed that it is a “clock bonus”: “The expansion of the Yesa reservoir and its filling of water, with rains such as those in Valencia and with a maximum landing capacity of 1,495 cubic metres per second, would pose a real risk”.
He has asked the Spanish Government to rethink the project and to support projects that guarantee sustainable development in the Basque Country.
Antecedent 2012
In 2012, 115 liters per square meter were collected in the area of La Rioja, which represented a movement of the right slope and the dismantling of two urbanizations of the town of Yesa. Well, compared to the 115 liters of water per square meter in Valencia, the cold drop has left over 300 liters of water.
