On Thursday morning, about 70 Tubacex workers began the march that began in Amurrio and ended in Vitoria-Gasteiz. They spent the night in Gopegi and headed towards the capital at 5:30 a.m.
At 9:30 a.m., the workers have concentrated in front of the Basque Parliament and the members of the committee have tried to make statements, but the Ertzaintza has banned them from entering and there have been moments of tension. In the end, several members have managed to get into the premises, but outside the environment has continued to be heated and the Ertzaintza has twice charged the workers.
The protests have stopped the tram for an hour and the Ertzaintza has precipitated violently when it has tried to evict the road. Finally, the workers in Tubacex have left Parliament’s Portal and have ended the protest, in which they are being held. However, workers' representatives have remained inside the plant.
Tubacex workers have been on strike for 64 days at the plants of Llodio and Amurrio to denounce the eviction of 129 people. Of these, 95 workers will be expelled directly, 22 will accept the incentive offered by the company and another 12 will retire early. However, the Works Council stated in a statement that "there has been no change" in the company. "We are all still on the same boat and with the same objective: to continue working, without traumatic layoffs," he stressed.
The aggression has been particularly violent at one of the points in the concentration, apparently, to remove a chestnut stick that was used during the march. @argia @berria @naiz_info pic.twitter.com/EyDOChg960
