The trial process will begin on February 14 at the First Section of the Court of Gipuzkoa and will continue until February 24. The article published by El Diario Vasco indicates that the verdict has been based on the pressure applied by the gunman to the alleged drug trafficker, who took advantage of the situation of the defendant to benefit from personal interest.
However, as indicated in the article, the detainee who was pressured by the border guard, who had a 69% disability due to mental disorder, will not be able to participate in the process, since he died in July 2020.
The events began with a control carried out by the Basque Government in April 2020, which stopped the man who was riding a motorcycle and arrested him for possession of narcotic substances, accusing him of drug trafficking. During his detention, the patrol chief held several interviews with the man, both of whom were alone. During this time, the gunman wrote in his arm with threats: "If you don't cooperate, I'll crack you, call me when you get out," she wrote the phone number next to him.
The article also includes the events that occurred as a result of these pressures and once the alleged trafficker was released: the man called the mobile number and joined the gunman. Finally, in exchange for these benefits, the gunman returned the 1,700 euros confiscated from the alleged trafficker in control and demanded compensation, the detainee gave him half a gram of cocaine.
However, these were not his last words with the drug trafficking detainee. They met three times in the next four days, and for each day they joined, the man gave him the names of the people to protect, in return the gunman received cocaine. According to Diario Vasco, the border guard acquired between 1.2 and 1.7 grams of cocaine in the last few days. The man obtained blisters and certain objects filled with medicinal products and managed to exclude four persons who had been prosecuted from the judicial process.
