ELA denounces that delay in retirement age will discriminate mainly against women
- Two more months of late partial retirement: Up to 62 years and 4 months. One more year, the Spanish Government has left out of this measure workers in the industrial sector, which considers them "laborious". ELA considers the exception satisfactory, but denounces that due to the male industrial sector it leaves many working women unassisted.
The Spanish Government has delayed the retirement age by 2023 by two months. Continuing with the reform promoted by the government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in 2011, between 2013 and 2027, each year the official retirement age is being delayed by two months in order to reduce social security expenses.
The same applies to partial retirement, with shorter working hours and conciliation contracts. The relay contract shall be deferred for a further two months, up to 62 years and four months, with a minimum of 35 years and nine months quoted.
Exceptionally discriminated women
Moreover, from 2015 onwards, workers in the industrial sector are exempted from this reform, which, if they are 6 years old in the same company and 33 years old, will be able to reduce their working hours to 75% from the age of 61 (60 mutualists). The exemption covers those who work in manufacturing or industrial assembly.
ELA reminds workers engaged in the movement of people in the field of care and health
In this regard, ELA denounces discrimination against workers from other sectors, especially women. Because he explained that industry is a very masculinized sector and, therefore, in many sectors it excludes, most are women. Remember, for example, women who work by mobilising people in the field of surveillance and health.
The union welcomes the fact that industry workers can retire earlier, but denounces that it excludes workers who “work hard and without any help.”
ELA criticises the fact that the Spanish Government continues to attack large industrial companies. By way of partial retirement, companies pay the workers for the reduced time and the rest receive them from Social Security pensions.
