In Navarre, there are 33,078 women who receive this year’s PENSION RETIREMENT. Compared to men, the annual average per capita income has been reduced by EUR 7,818.02. That is to say, among all, throughout the year, 258.6 million less.
This is reflected in a report by the UGT trade union on the pension pay gap. The event was presented by the Confederal Deputy Secretary General of the union, Cristina Antoñanzas, and the Secretary of Union Policy and Equality of UGT of Navarra, Marisol Vicente.
According to the data in the report, the gender gap in pensions is as follows: "Bill for the work carried out by women throughout their lives, for the worst paid, part-time employment, temporary contract, overruns, reductions in working hours for childcare and other family members, in addition to unpaid work at home and care for family members".
In this sense, Marisol Vicente stated that "only paid work was done and the men who were promoted and recognized throughout their career receive pensions that only ten percent of working women".
The UGT leader explained that "if we look at pensioners by type of pension, men are the majority in disability and retirement, while women are the majority in pensions". "The differences between women's and men's pensions occur in all Social Security schemes and in all contingencies," he stressed.
According to the report by the union, in Navarre, of the 111,465 pensioners of retirement and widowhood, 53,806 are women and 57,659 men.
Retirement pensions are mostly male and have the highest amounts, while those for widows, on the other hand, are lower and the beneficiaries are women, according to the study.
In particular, the average amount of the retirement pension received by 33,078 women is EUR 945,37 per month, which contrasts with the average pensions received by 56,842 men, amounting to EUR 1,503,80. Thus, female pensioners "suffer a difference of 558.43 euros per month compared to men, a figure that in percentage terms represents a gender gap of 37.13%", the UGT report highlights.
In the case of widows’ pensions, 96.21% of the persons receiving such pensions are women, with an average amount of EUR 800,63.
In this sense, Marisol Vicente pointed out that "the origin of the pension is in the distribution of tasks in the households", so that "while men participated in paid work outside the home, women were still there caring for domestic and family tasks". "For this reason, most of the beneficiaries of these pensions are women, 20,728 women and 817 men," explained the Minister for Employment and Social Policies.

When grandparents were young, retirement was represented as a time to enjoy life. Period of collection of the fruits of the work carried out during these years. What a satisfaction! It is a pity that young people today are never able to feel. You might think I'm a pessimist, but... [+]
