The members of Aire Garbia have reported that on December 17 of last year the Consortium of Wastes of Gipuzkoa (GHK) requested the license of work to demolish this line in the town hall of Lasarte. Signatures are being collected in Lasarte to support the petitioners, and this afternoon’s appearance is in the context of this initiative.
For many years there have been concerns about the economic and environmental impact of the incinerator, in this case the high-voltage line that will link Hernani with Azpeitia. This line will cross the lands around Zubieta that belong to Urnieta, Lasarte and San Sebastian, with a greater impact than expected by the PTP of San Sebastian on the “Routes chosen by the Consorcio de Residuos de Guipúzcoa (GHK)”, which will be incorporated more into the territory of the municipality. “As a result, the economic and environmental impacts that Lasarte-Oria will suffer will be greater.”
Severe impact on one of the few trees
It will pass through unbuildable land and will require the erection of 7 towers, “of which five are located in protected forest areas and the other two are located in rural areas of special protection.” In addition to the overland route, the airplane passes over a rural area of Special Protection three times. “The property of some of these lands belongs to the Municipality of Lasarte-Oria.”
In order to carry out these tasks “access, opening or adaptation of tracks and/or laying of foundations” will be necessary, for which “land movements, tree cutting, vegetation cleaning, land occupation and change of use, change of landscape...”. And this will have a significant impact on the environment. “There will be losses of soil and tree vegetation and also changes in wildlife. Looking ahead, the most important impact will be on the landscape and the bird fauna.”
And a serious impact on the forest vegetation, and one of the few bridges that Lasarte has. Five towers will be located “close to native trees, of the mixed forest of acidophilic spines (eqas, halves, chestnut trees, ash trees, beech trees, hazelnuts, white thorns, gorostia, black thorns...)”.
