We started working in the field of education.

We are going to win Basque Country socialist and feminist with the student struggle!

When in 2013 we created the Ernai youth organization, we made strategic decisions about education together with the Ikasle Abertzaleak organization of the time. Giving all the legitimacy and confidence to the movement that for 25 years was organized in the student sphere, we decided to approach a historically rooted alliance and place the work of the Student Strategy within the Youth Strategy. At present, the vision and practice of each organization on education and work in this field politikoa.Horregatik has been completely detached from the strategic alliance developed for years by Ikasle Abertzaleak and the youth organization, understanding that the consensus sustaining the conditions for its maintenance had been broken.

Given the political circumstances that we live in Euskal Herria in 2018 and the challenges of the Basque Independence, we feel the need to speak with one’s own voice about the educational problem and the student struggle; the need for the sovereignty of Euskal Herria and the construction of an own Educational System in Euskal Herria is fully present at the present historical moment. By the way, it would be irresponsible to understand the student struggle outside the challenges of Left Abertzale independence.

Education is an important link in the patriarchal capitalist system; in this sense, it is a very important field of struggle for the young people who work in the construction of another life model. The students and young people we have gathered here today do not want to continue accepting the Foreign Education System that leads us to pretsonos being merchandise. We reject people being used as goods, we do not want to understand the education system as a means of production in order to create a workforce in line with the interests of entrepreneurs. We do not want the curricula imposed by Madrid and Paris to eliminate our country, nor do we want local politicians to clarify the Educational Community.

We want to be sovereign, masters of our decisions and our heads. We understand our ambitions and dreams in the construction of an Euskal Herria euskaldun, socialist and feminist. We want to build a society free of free people. Therefore, we understand that we must develop a space educated by the educational struggles of students, with the ambition to revolutionize the daily life of local struggles. In Euskal Herria, many projects have been launched, also in the field of education. Together with all of them, we want to make the way for sovereignty. We believe that the own educational system for the Basque Country and the Wave for sovereignty should be carried out in cooperation with the entire Educational Community.

The debate on the education model that will serve the workers and the oppressed popular sectors in Euskal Herria is very lively. From co-education to Euskaldunization, from segregation of classes and/or races, to the Educational System that recognizes us as subjects. These debates are the ones that challenge us first and we ourselves must be the ones who fight in the keys to building a socialist, feminist and Euskaldun Basque Country. We will compete closely with Spanish, machista and authoritarian taxation. Competing with the capitalist and patriarchal model, taking the streets and implementing new proposals.

Therefore, from the youth organization Ernai we get to work in the educational field and commit to organize, raise dynamics and reflect on the construction of an own and sovereign Educational System for the Basque Country. In fact, because of the depletion of the historically held strategic alliance, we didn't find any student organization that wants to address these challenges. In this way, on the road to a free, socialist, feminist and Euskaldun Basque Country, we will put in place the necessary tools. We cannot miss the opportunity we have to build the country from education. We are going to win Basque Country socialist and feminist with the student struggle!
