“It has been and is a school to take the first steps in the liberation movement for thousands of young people,” Ernai said on the tenth anniversary of the organization. “Ernai was born to braid independence and socialism with new liberating struggles, and we continue to work with the same goals that were born.” Ernai was introduced in Estella on 2 March 2013. Today, 10 years later, celebration and claim have come together.
On the occasion of the celebration of a decade, the universities and capitals of Hego Euskal Herria have organized various events with their groups. The event started with talks in which Idurre Eskisabel, Floren Aoiz, Xabi Iraola, Ainhoa Bueno and Andoni Olariaga participated. Exposures, meals, berts, etc. have been made below. In the afternoon, the day will end with a wide range of concerts.
Young people consider that times of crisis are also moments of opportunity: they stress that they will continue to work “for young people to achieve power, to be sovereign and to emerge struggles and to gain alternatives”. It is precisely within this understanding that the course began Now we have the opportunity to change everything. Now, in the context of the tenth anniversary, they wanted to look at the work of the peoples and neighbours who have characterised the organization, and in the coming weeks the Ari gara days have been organized in the extensive Basque Country. They will demand “access to the living conditions and liveable life models of young people, such as the north, independence, socialism or the current political project of feminism”.
Elorrio youth meeting, meeting point of a decade
As a spring, the youth organization will reunite thousands of young people between 6 and 9 April in Elorrio. It will also be special in 2023, in the context of the tenth anniversary. As today, there will also be conferences, concerts, entertainment, political talks… “One way of living is what has taught us the path of these ten years. And this way of life we will exalt it in Elorrio. We will show that this Basque country we dream of is possible,” the members of Ernai stress. Basque youth has been invited to participate.
In the new political cycle, they have also talked about the role played and played by Ernai: “We are firmly committed to continuing to renew the liberation movement and to acquiring all its liberating capacity.” The current crisis has perpetuated youth precariousness and has led to a collective fall in life expectancy. Ernai not only responds to this reality, but also wants to offer a time horizon to the generation that has been educated in times of crisis.” They have demanded organization and struggle, “both by their own voice and in other liberating struggles.”

The Gernikarra singer Eñaut Elorrieta has written an excellent synthesis for our people, singing “we have come long, we go far”. And it's true, we're a long-term reality, and this region has something to say on that road. The Tree of Gernika remains shaded as it was for... [+]
