Josu Erkoreka, first Vice-President and Minister for Security of the Basque Government, has spread the message via social media to the events that took place in Vitoria on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
In the words of Erkoreka, the Municipal Police and the Ertzaintza went to “restore public order”, “after the illegal occupation of a building”. He points out that the young people who were there had “seated” them. According to Erkoreka, a group of over 200 young people received the Ertzainas “very violently”, “with kicks, blows and launch of objects”. Erkoreka says six Ertzainas were wounded.
GKS spokesmen have explained that the Ertzaintza caused more than 25 injuries, four of them had to go to the hospital and arrested one person.
They denounce “police harassment and the responsibility of policymakers”. They also point out that "no political party" has denounced the facts. "The election campaign has complied with messages in favour of youth, repeatedly stating that they will take measures to improve the working and living conditions of young people. But those acts like yesterday’s evening show that they are only empty words,” they point out.
