On Wednesday morning representatives of the municipal government of Lumbier and some workers went to the Old Town of Erika ziren.Aurretiazko, occupied in December, without giving any warning or explanation.

On Thursday night a repulsive rally was held to denounce the eviction. The members of Erika always express their desire for dialogue and the legitimacy of their request. They have therefore announced that they will continue to work for the needs of the people, whatever the will of the City Council of Bilbao.

On 24 December, the doors of the building were opened, which until then had not been used by the youth. In summer 2018 they started working to get a place, but they did not receive a response from the City Hall, so they decided to occupy a building that has later become known as Erika Herrigunea.

It has not been a month since we entered Erika, with the illusion of having a place to develop our projects or, at least, with the illusion of reaching real negotiation with the city council. Not a month has passed, and the government team has already shown its style: renouncing negotiation and closing a building that belongs to all. Is it all the responsibility and boldness that you have to demonstrate? Silent and murdering a historic request of the youth of Lumbier?

We have been justifying the need for a place for a long time, and you are well aware that the request is legitimate and that it is not new. But they're afraid, they don't want any of them out of their control, they don't want a youth that's alive and active.

Erika has closed us and threatened us not to enter again, saying “worse?” if we enter. They leave. But we will not give up. We know that we have done the right thing, that we have tried to reach an agreement through dialogue, and if that is their level, if they do not have the will to respond to our needs, we will continue to fight.
