The tower house of Erbetegi was demolished last Saturday after the building collapsed. An important part of the architectural heritage of San Sebastian, according to the Ancora association, we will only see it in the photographs. The demolition of the building has taken place because the High-Speed Train route will pass next to it this Saturday. The last neighbours living in the area had to leave their homes in early February because of the rapid forced expropriation they suffered.

His name came from Bachiller Miguel Pérez Erbeeta, who was mayor of San Sebastian at the beginning of the sixteenth century. Classified as an Archeological Presumption Area, archaeologists have recognized that the building was of this century and is also reflected in the plans of that time, and even contained important elements of civil and cultured architecture. However, he has been expelled after arguing that his internal structure was burned during the Second Carlist War.

The Culture Department of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa indicated that the portico arch and other elements will be transferred to the Gordailua depot in Irun and that the first floor of the building will be partially maintained. Three or four paddles have been stacked with sillares, the rest has remained in sand.

In Erbetegi, dozens of families lived and, although the initial project of the TAV provided for the maintenance of their house, they knew "through newspapers and general newsletters" that the layout would be modified and the building demolished, as explained in public. They have criticized the attitude of ADIF and the City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastian for offering "ridiculous" compensation and not offering them the possibility of having a decent home, beyond social rental.
