Eleven months have passed since the landfill of Zaldibar collapsed on 6 January, so the Zaldibar Argitu platform called for mobilisations for that day, with the aim of not forgetting what happened on 6 February 2020 and demanding accountability.
The mobilizations at Zaldibar, Etxebarri, Zalla, Ermua, Eibar and Elgeta have called for clarification of those responsible for the landfill disaster: "We call on our politicians to put the health of citizens and the protection of the environment before private interests. We need guarantees that what happened at Zaldibar will not be repeated." The members of Zaldibar Argitu, the managers of the landfill company, Verter Recycling, and the political leaders have criticised the silence they have held for months and have questioned the legitimacy of the politician Iñaki Arriola remaining in the public office.
